Sara Bumgarner, VNA volunteer manager, has been recently been awarded the credential, Certified in Volunteer Administration, it entitles her to use the designation (CVA). This certification is the only internationally recognized credential in the field and is valid for a 5-year period before renewal.
Sara discussed the impact of this certification, “The CVA requirements for continuing education not only expand educational opportunities, but also legitimizes the field of volunteer management and informs the community that the VNA is committed to providing quality volunteer experiences led by volunteer management experts.”
To earn this designation, applicants must show they’ve mastered specific leadership competencies and demonstrated they have both the education and professional experience. Candidates complete a two-hour examination testing knowledge, application and analysis of skills in six competencies related to leadership. Sara joins a select group of over 2100 professionals in Australia, Canada, China, Italy, Slovakia and United States as well as other nations who have attained this credential.
