As told to the VNA by a home healthcare patient, Janet Ardelean
VNA Physician Liaison, Samantha McCoy, came to visit me this morning regarding my discharge scheduled for tomorrow, November 2. Just prior to Samantha arriving, I found out that the apartment that I was moving into was not going to be ready until November 15 of this year.
My “Plan B” was to move into my daughter’s boyfriend’s apartment located in an old historic building here in Vero Beach. The one big issue was that it had about 15 steep steps, and we were trying to figure out how I would be able to get up those stairs. Once I went up, I would be stuck up there for two weeks until my apartment was ready. Samantha spoke to the physician assistant that works here at Palm Garden, Ingrid, and the issue of my safety was brought up. Samantha, with my permission, contacted the business office at Palm Garden and was able to arrange for me to go over to long-term care for two weeks until the apartment was ready, since I was approved effective November 1, 2024, with Florida Community Care. She is a lifesaver for me and a wonderful person to converse with. I highly recommend her and the VNA. She was exceptional and put my mind at rest. Thank you, VNA, for sending out such a wonderful person.
