November is National Home Care and Hospice Month as well as National Caregivers Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary nurses, therapists, aides, and caregivers who bring healing, comfort, and independence to patients in the place they feel most secure—their own homes. These professionals embody compassion and commitment every day, ensuring that individuals—particularly older adults—can age safely and gracefully in familiar surroundings.
At the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), we proudly support this healing mission through a comprehensive range of home health, private care, and hospice services designed to meet the evolving needs of our community. Our goal is simple yet profound: to help every individual maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life at every stage of their health journey—from post-surgical follow-up care to help with grooming to end-of-life care.
VNA Home Health: Skilled Care in the Comfort of Home
VNA Home Health offers skilled medical care to patients recovering from illness, injury, or hospitalization as well as those managing chronic health conditions. Our team of nurses and therapists provides expert, personalized attention in the comfort of each patient’s home—reducing hospital readmissions and promoting faster recovery. Whether it’s wound care, medication management, or physical therapy, our clinicians work hand-in-hand with physicians and families to ensure continuity of care and peace of mind.
VNA Private Care: Supporting Independence and Daily Living
For seniors who wish to remain at home but need extra support, VNA Private Care offers compassionate assistance with daily living. Professional caregivers help with bathing, grooming, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and transportation to appointments—empowering clients to maintain their routines and independence. This personalized care not only supports physical well-being but also nurtures emotional connection and companionship.
VNA Hospice: Compassionate Care for Life’s Final Chapter
When a life-limiting illness arises, VNA Hospice provides a holistic approach to care—addressing not only the physical symptoms but also the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families. Our interdisciplinary team includes physicians, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors, music therapists, and dedicated volunteers. Together, they ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of care and comfort, wherever they call home—be it a private residence, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility.
For those whose symptoms cannot be managed at home, the VNA Hospice House offers 24/7 premier end-of-life care in a serene, home-like setting. The recently renovated 12,000-square-foot residence features 12 private patient rooms—each with its own bathroom, visitor accommodations, and private lanai overlooking lush gardens. The Hospice House also offers respite stays under a program, Respite Care, for up to five days per month. It is paid for by Medicare and gives family caregivers a much-needed opportunity to rest and recharge. With its reflection room, professional kitchen, and tranquil four-acre grounds, the Hospice House is a place of peace, dignity, and love.
Beyond clinical care, VNA Hospice extends its compassion through bereavement services, including grief counseling, support groups, and Camp Chrysalis—a healing camp for children who have experienced loss. Additional services, such as music and pet therapy, further enhance emotional comfort and connection as well as Project Wish, which offers end-of-life patients meaningful wishes.
As we observe National Home Care and Hospice Month and National Caregivers Month, the VNA extends heartfelt gratitude to all our caregivers—the heartbeat of our organization. Their dedication allows countless individuals to live with comfort, independence, and dignity every day. Whether through skilled nursing, personal assistance, or hospice care, the VNA remains steadfast in its mission: to provide exceptional, compassionate care wherever you call home.
