VNA Fall Prevention Program

Every year, one in four Americans over the age of 65 will fall. And according to the CDC, falls are the leading cause of injuries for seniors, often resulting in fractures and brain injuries. In fact, falls are the number one cause of brain injuries according to the Brain Injury Association of America. And falling when you’re older can be more serious compared to when you’re younger because an older person’s bones are more brittle and will break easier.

That’s why we’ve implemented a Fall Prevention program. Administered by certified therapists, it is designed to keep patients safely in their homes.

Often falling is the byproduct of an underlying health or environmental issue. Our caregivers will help identify those issues and offer appropriate guidance and follow-up to ensure a fall-safe home.

Common reasons for falling include:

      • Side effects from medications

      • Home environment

      • Diagnosis of a chronic illness

      • Recovering from recent surgery

    The VNA Fall Prevention Program:

        • Helps avoid rehospitalization

        • Is covered by Medicare for those who qualify

        • Promotes aging safely at home

        • Identifies possible risk factors
